Services held for William Henry Haht

Services for William Henry Haht were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 1988, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Dwane Shay officiated. The pallbearers were: John Zevenbergen, Byron Niewendorp, Robert Stofferan, Glenn Strubbie, Mike Rabe and Jim Haht. "Amazing Grace", "Beautiful Savior" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" were sung by the congregation. Organist: Mrs. Darlene Petitt.

The final resting place is Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa.

Military graveside services were conducted by Conaway Post 318 of the American Legion of Sanborn, Iowa.

OBITUARY

William Henry Haht, the son of Henry and Anna Warnke Haht, was born June 4, 1898, in O'Brien County, Iowa. He attended schools in O'Brien County. He then began farming with his brothers in O'Brien County.

In 1942 he was called into the Army, which he served during WWII. Upon returning from the service, he started farming northwest of Sanborn, where he farmed until his retirement in 1979.

He passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 1988, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 89 years, 7 months and 22 days.

He was a member of the Conaway American Legion Post 318 of Sanborn and had served as Sergeant of Arms for over 20 years.

William is survived by one brother, Emil of Primghar; two sisters: Mrs. Velma Knuth of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and Mrs. Agnes DeWaay of Hollywood, California; also many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and six brothers.
