Ray Hodgdon Dies in California; Burial is Here.

Ray Hodgdon, 66, a former Paullina resident, died very suddenly at his home in Long Beach, California on May 13.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Gaudian Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Davies of the local Methodist Church in charge. The graveside ceremonly was conducted by the Masonic lodge with Dale Scott of Cherokee . Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery.[sic - WEST Prairie View]

He was graduated from the Paullina High School in 1911, later taking a business course at Cedar Rapids. He worked in the Paullina bank and in a bank at Long Beach, California. He entered the employ of the Douglas Company, retiring from that service just last year.

On September 24, 1924, he was united in marriage to Irene Dove. She preceded him in death in 1956. A sister, Blanche, also preceded him in death.

Ray served his country in the armed services in World War I and was a member of the American Legion as well as the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include one brother, George, of Paullina; a sister, Myyrn (Mrs. L.W. Jacobs) of Long Beach, California; a newphe, John Leeds, Lynwood, California and a niece, Ruth Bradford of Great Falls, Montana, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends attending from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. William L. Jacobs, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Robert Noneman, Mrs. Hilda Bentz and Ernest Bents of Melvin; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Huber and daughter of Spencer, Mrs. Ruth Corrie, Ida Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Smith, Park Rapids, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. William Irvine and Mrs Clara Powers of Primghar, Mrs. Merrick Lindsey, Wray, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Towe, Worthington, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. John Hodgdon, Quimby, and Mrs. Joe Fell of Cherokee
