Francis Briggie (1915-1993)

Funeral services for Francis Briggie were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 1993, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating. Interment was in [West] Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.

Francis, Briggie, the son of Fred and Emma Leverenz Briggie, was born August 10, 1915 in Paullina, Iowa. He received his education in country school in the Paullina area. In 1935 he began his employment with the Farmers Co-op Elevator Company in Paullina.

On June 23, 1940, he was united in marriage to Dorie Heller in Centerville, South Dakota. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Paullina.

Frank continued with the Elevator for a span of 50 years until his retirement in 1985.

Doris preceded him in death on June 8, 1989, in Primghar. Frank continued to make his home in Paullina until November of 1992, when he went to be near his son in Youngstown, Ohio. He passed away on Sunday, February 21, 1993, in Youngstown, reaching the age of 77 years, 6 months and 11 days.

He was baptized and later confirmed, and was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He was also a member of the Trap Shoot Hall of Fame in Vandilia, Ohio.

Frank leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Howard and his wife, Donna Briggie of Seattle, Washington; Lloyd and his wife, Marcia Briggie of Youngstown, Ohio; and Lyle Briggie of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, daughter, Carol; parents and four brothers.
