Eugene Keith Boone was born on February 28, 1926 in Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Edward and Hattie (Vander Zwaag) Boone. He grew up in the Hospers-Boyden area and graduated from Newkirk High School.

During World War II he served in the US Navy in Okinoawa.

On August 30, 1949, he was married to Jean Olson at Sanborn, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Boyden area. For twelve years. He worked for the newspaper in Sanborn before moving to Adrian, Minnesota, in 1963 where they published the newspaper. In 1966 they moved to Luverne Minnesota, where they lived until moving to Rock Raids in 1973. He was employed as a sales representative for the Rock Rapids newspaper. He passed away October 13 at the Rock Rapids hospital at the age of 70 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Rock Rapids; two sons, Stephen Eugene of Rochester, Minnesota, Jeffrey Allan of Saint Cloud Minnesota, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Rebecca Lynn) Hammett of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and six grandchildren; his mother, Hattie of Sheldon, three brothers, Bernard L, Erwin K., and Thelmar Boone, all of Sheldon.

Preceding him in death were his father, one granddaughter, Tracy Jean, and one sister, Audrey.

Funeral services were held October 16 at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. William DeYoung officiating.

Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with graveside military rites by Van Anne-Fields Post No. 6960, Rex Strait Post No. 103, American Legion, Jongewaard-Roste Funeral Hoem, Rock Rapids, was in charge.
