Nellie Gertrude (Mustapha) Lorch (1882-1954)

Mrs. Nellie Gertrude nee Mustapha, Lorch was born at Brooklyn, Iowa, on December 28, 1882, the daughter of Adolph and Nancy Hulse Mustapha. Nellie Mustapha grew up at Brooklyn, Iowa, and as a young lady moved with her parents to Osceola county in 1899.

On February 23, 1916, Nellie Mustapha and Walter Lorch were united in marriage at Sibley. They lived on a farm twelve miles northeast of Hartley until moving into Everly in the spring of 1940. In the fall of 1941, Mr. and Mrs. Lorch moved into the town of Hartley, where they have since resided.

In 1939, Mrs. Walter Lorch was received into the Lutheran churcy in May city through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. In March, 1944, she became a member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church in Hartley.

Mrs. Lorch had been in failing health for several years, and bedfast since August, 1953. Just a few weeks ago she was taken to the Dykstra Nursing Home so that she might receive the care she needed. Mrs. Walter Lorch was called from this earthly life on April 5, 1954, at the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 8 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.

Mrs. Walter Lorch leaves to mourn her passing, her widower, Walter Lorch; one daughter, Mrs. Lorene Winterboer; three grandsons; two brothers, Jerry Mustapha, and john Mustapha of Milford; one sister, Mrs. Lee White of Milford; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church in Hartley with Rev. B.H. Romanowski, Pastor, officiating. Music was provided with Mrs. H.B. Pike at the organ and a quartet consisting of Mrs. S. Johnson, Mrs. Everett Selken, W.R. Wagner and Jake Moermond. Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley.
