Services Held for William Grogan

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, March 27, at Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church in Sanborn for William E. Grogan, 88, who lost his life in an accident Wednesday afternoon, March 24. He was crushed beneath a car he was working on at his home in Sanborn. The car, parked in the driveway, either fell on him or rolled over him.

Father Gerald Zeman officiated at services. Rosary was recited at Sanborn Funeral Home Friday evening. Interment was in Saint Cecelia's Cemetery, Sanborn, under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Homes.

William Edward Grogan [sic], son of John and Margaret Grogan, was born in Sanborn, Iowa on April 29, 1887 in O'Brien County, Iowa. He lived his youth, attended the rural schools, and grew to young manhood in this vicinity.

He was united in marriage to Charlotte Davis on October 25, 1911, at Sanborn, Iowa. Their entire married life was lived in the Sanborn vicinity.

He passed away suddenly at his home on March 24, 1976, at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 25 days.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Sanborn; five children: Mrs Robert (Evelyn) Dickensen of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Milton (Helen) Hansen of Garner, Frances Deibmer of Mountain Home, Ark, James W. Grogan of West Lake, LA., and William R. Grogan of Stillwater, Minnesota; 25 Grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Ann Burns, Mary Hickey and Kathryn Joyce, and four brothers: John, Cornelius, James, and Mike.
