Howard Dale Zonnefeld (1931-2005)

Howard Dale Zonnefeld, the son of Dick and Mary (Buteyn) Zonnefeld, born on July 28, 1931, in Sanborn, Iowa. After attending Western Christian High, he joined the Navy for four years.

On June 17, 1953, he was married to Verna Mae Nootenboom, and they made their home in Norwalk, California.

He was a milker, drove school bus, then owned a toy store for eleven years, and drove for Keeney Trucking for twenty-five years. He retired and they moved to Seal Beach, California. At that time they did extensive traveling with their motorhome in the U.S. and Canada.

He died at his home in Seal Beach, California on October 20, 2005, at the age of 74 years, two months, 23 days, following a battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, six children: Cheryl , Deanne, Larry, Valerie, Lynette, Darren; twelve grandchildren; a brother, Victor, three sisters, Margaret VanderVeen, Ruth Boyer, and Eunice Voortman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Mary Zonnefeld, and his step-mother, Alyce (Reitsma) Zonnefeld.

A committal service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park followed by the funeral service at Rosewood Christian Reformed Church where they were faithful members for over fifty years.
