C. E Heinsen Rites Held Here Tuesday

Clarence E. Heinsen, 83, a resident and former businessman of Sanborn, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 from the Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Cutler of St. Andrews Methodist Church officiating. Pall bearers were grandsons: Lawrence Tifft; James, Jack A., and Clarence Greene; Harold Yungbluth and Gale Mills. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery. Music selections, No Night There and Beyond the Sunset were sung by Mrs. Harold Saupe and Mrs Wm. Dummett accompanied by Miss Gladys Barber. Mr and Mrs Albert Patker were in charge of flowers.

Clarence Edgar Heinsen, son of Robert G. and Sarah F. Heinsen, was born April 11, 1877 four miles west of Sheldon. He departed this life on September 11, having attained the age of 83 years, five months.

He grew to manhood in Sanborn. and attended the Sanborn public school.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Bonner in 1899. To this union were born two daughters, Esther and Elleanor. (Mrs Elizabeth Heinsen passed away in 1910).

On February 27, 1912 he was united in marriage to Anna B. Bonner. To this union were born three sons, Robert, Maynard and Lloyd.

During the first thirty years of his adult life, he worked principally for the railroad and as a grain buyer. The last 20 years before retirement, he operated the grocery store at the corner of Main and Third Streets. Since his retirement, he divided his time between gardening at his home and looking after his farms.

Survivors include his widow; daughter Esther [Mrs S. L. Greene of Greenville]; sons, Robert, Chicago, Ill.; Maynard, at home, and Lloyd of Omaha; ,one brother. Charles F. Heinsen of Boston; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wilbert, sister Agnes [Mrs. Robert Inman], two brothers who died in infancy, and daughter Elleanor.

Mr Heinsen affiliated early in life, with the Methodist church and has been a faithful and willing worker. As a young man he became member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and during his lifetime was keenly interested in all civic affairs.

Relatives attending from out of town included Mrs Daniel Pillen and son Dallas, Mrs Herman Robertson and daughter Bonnie of Chokio, Minn.; Lloyd W. Heinsen and daughters Clista and Mrs Barbara Throlson from Omaha; Mr and Mrs S. L. Greene, daughter Mary and son Jack of Greenville; Mr and Mrs James Greene of Chester; Mr and Mrs Gale Mills from LeRoy, Minn.; Mr and Mrs Clarence Greene of Sioux City; Mr and Mrs Harold Yungbluth of Linn Grove and Mr and Mrs Robert B. Heinsen of Chicago.

Friends attending from out of town were Mrs Joe Jenison and Miss Bertha Kiefer of Spencer; Mr and Mrs Glen Mason and Mrs Olive I Fletcher, Greenville.
