Hubert Henry Schultz, the son of Emil and Emily (Kaatz) Schultz, was born at Sheldon, Iowa, on January 20, 1914. He lived his youth and received his education in Sheldon, graduating from the Sheldon High School. Hubert had attained the rank of an Eagle Scout during his youth. He continued his education, graduating from the Sheldon Junior College, the University of Iowa, and the University of Iowa Law School.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Clark on September 18, 1954. Their married lifetime was spent in Sanborn where Hubert practiced law in Sanborn and Primghar for 50 years. Hubert died at Kuiper Villa in Sanborn on March 21, 2001 at the age of 86 years, two months, and one day.

Hubert is survived by his children: Joan Simpson and Connie Wimmer; and by a previous marriage, Hugh Schultz of Dublin, Ohio, and Sue Fleming of Stellacom, Washington. He also had twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Hubert was a member of the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church and had served on the board of directors of Prairie View, Sanborn Savings Bank, and Sanborn Development. He was also a member of the O'Brien County Republican Party, having served as Sixth District Republican Chairman and he had also been affiliated with the Boy Scout program.

Hubert's special interests included flowers, fishing and woodworking. He will be remembered for the many letters he wrote to his family, friends, and colleagues and also for the many hours he spent working with the flowers in the Sanborn city parks, which enhanced the beauty of the community.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Schultz at Saint Andrew's United Methodist Church at Sanborn on March 16, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Suetterlin officiating. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
