Funeral services for Martin F. Dornbusch were held Friday morning, October 21, at the Zion Lutheran Church of Paullina. Mr. Dornbusch passed away on Wednesday, October 19 at the hospital in Cherokee. Rev. Donald L. Johnson was the clergyman for the services. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery near Paullina with arrangements under the care of the Gaudian Funeral Home.
Martin F. Dornbusch, the son of Ina and Sara, nee Moser, Dornbusch, was born on January 29, 1889 in Baker Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He was baptized on June 2, 1900 and started his education in the Lutheran schools, and later graduated from Paullina High School. He was confirmed April 5, 1914.
In March of 1921 he was united in marriage to Mabel Wrede and to this union two daughters were born. Mabel and Martin farmed in the Paullina area for many years, and retired about 1953.
Martin was very active on the school board of O'Brien County, and also the local board for many years. He served on the telephone board for many years and also served the Republican Party on the local and county level.
During the past several years, Martin had health problems, and passed away on Wednesday of this week at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Mable, two daughters, Mrs. Alene Tjossem of Saluda, Virginia, and Beverly, Mrs. Wendell Ottum of Eden Paririe, Minnesota. He is also survived by one grandson and one granddaughter. His parents, one brother and one step-brother preceded him in death.
