With Frev. Fred A. Elze officiating, final rites for William C. Hintz were conducted at Bethel Lutheran church in Sutherland, Monday, October 14 at 2 p.m. Mr. Hintz died at his home at Peterson, Friday, Octobe 11, at the age of sixty-one. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge.

William Christian Johann Hintz, the sone of Frank and Katharina Swenson Hintz, was born April 21, 1896 in Buena Vista County, Iowa. He passed away on October 11, 1957, at his home near Person, Iowa, at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 19 days. [The cause of death was emphysema.]
With the exception of five years near Redwood Falls, Minnesota, he had lived in the Peterson vicinity all his life. He had attended the schools in Brooke township and Peterson. He was engaged in farming all his life, but for the past five years had been in poor health and under the care of a dcotor.
He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on June 7, 1896, the Rev. H. Schwenk of Immanual Lutheran church in Cherokee County officiating. He was confirmed February 6, 1910 by Rev. R. Lorenz at St. John's Church at Peterson. At the time of his death he was a member of Bethel Lutheran church at Sutherland.
His marriage to Lily Matzdorff took place on November 19, 1916 at Sioux City, Iowa. To them were born six children. They are Marvin of Clinton, Iowa, Arline of Peterson, Thelma (Mrs. Vernon Willits) of Camanche, Iowa; Evelyn (Mrs. James Austin) of Sutherland; Adeline (Mrs. Russell Malone) of DeWitt, Iowa; and William, Jr. of Clinton, Iowa.
Besides his wife and children, he is survived by fifteen grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Scott of Anoka, Minnesota, and Mrs. Lolly Felton of Ortonville, Minnesota; four brothers, Alfred Hintz of Atwater, Minnesota, Arthur Hintz of Washington state, George Hints of Otronville, Minnesota; and Raymond Hintz of Californa; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
