Mrs. Otelia Wies was born in West Prussia, Germany, November 23, 1849. In 1883 she came to America. Her first husband was John Kukaski. After his death, she became the wief of Gustav Wies in 1904. For years the couple were at home on a farm west of Hartley, but due to the illness of Mrs. Wies, they retired to Hartley in 1912.

Four weeks ago Mrs. Wies became severely afflicted with her malady, heart trouble, and departed this life on Sunday morning, Feb 18 at five o'clock, having attained the age of 73 years, 2 months, 25 days.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. G. Gies, there being no children born in the family.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon from the home of the deceased and at the chapel, Rev Albrecht of Trinity being in charge.
