Hugo Erwin Tensen died in Dayton, Ohio, Sunday, October 13, at the age of 40 years, eleven months and twenty days. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Dayton, Ohio, his two sons, Tom and Jack of Davenport; his father, Otto Tensen; brothers Henry and Max; and his sister, Irene, all of Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Tensen was born and raised in Davenport, losing his mother at the age of four years. His young manhood was spent in business and theatre work. He became a professional motion picture and newsreel cameraman while still a young man and devoted mroe than twenty years of his life to this line of enterprise. At the time of his death he was engaged, in collaberation with Dr. A.P. Wheelock, of Des Moines, Iowa, in the invention and manufacture of an eye testing device which is at the present time being used in every corner of the United States, Canada, and England.
During his life he spent many years in the Des Moines, Iowa, Hollywood, California, and Chicago, Illinois, where in each place a large group of friends and business associates mourn his passing.
Hugo Tensen and Marjorie Strom were married in Chicago, December 6, 1930. Many of his happiest days were spent in Hartley with the Strom family, who loved him as a son and brother.
The illness which caused his death came upon him suddenly and without warning and brought death after nearly six weeks of suffering.
Hugo Tensen, known to everyone as "Tenny," was kind and loving, honest and straightforward in all his dealings with his associates. Cheerfulness was one of his outstanding traits, and the thing that will be best remembered by Tenny's friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Plummer officiating. Music was furnished by a male quartette and interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.
