Funeral Services Held for Former Paullina Hardware Merchant
John A. Jacobs, 86, who owned and operated a hardware store here for fifty years, died Monday at a Sioux City nursing home after an illness of eight months.
Mr. Jacobs was born December 12, 1884, near Primghar, Iowa. He graduated from Paullina public schools.
As a young man he worked for the Hunt and Schutz Hardware Store in Sioux City. In 1914 he began working with his father in a hardware store in Paullina. He operated the store until his retirement in 1964. He moved to a Sioux City nursing home six months ago.
Mr. Jacobs married Edith Vaughan August 22, 1911 in Sioux City. She died in 1958.
Survivors include a sister, Dessie, also in a Sioux City retirement home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 6 at 1:30 at the Gaudian Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Hickman of the Presbyterian church was the clergyman.
Pallbearers were Walter Cooper, Marlo Ebel, Carl Weseman, Bert Louscher, Tom Aitken and Ronald Hagenbucher.
Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina.
