Myrtle Mae Strampe, 76, of West Des Moines, passed away April 28, 2000 at Crestview Acres of a heart attack. Services were held on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Des Moines, with Rev. Lyle Peters officiating. Burial was in the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina. A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, with Rev. Karl Eckhoff officiating.

Miss Strampe was born September 26, 1923, at Paullina, the daughter of Albert and Annis Puhrmann Strampe. She was baptized at St. John's, Germantown, by Rev. T. Wolfram. She attended Zion Parochial School and was confirmed by Rev. J. Hartmeister in 1937. She was active in both the Zion Choir and Walther League.

She graduated from Paullina High School with the Class of 1941 and participated in both vocal and instrumental programs during her high school years. Following graduation she went to work for the Paullina Telephone Co. She continued being active in the Paullina Summer Band Program.

In 1951 she moved to Des Moines and took employment with the Meredith Corporation. Presently, she was a retired keypunch operator with that company.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by two aunts and a host of cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and Mental Health.
