William Peter Rahbusch, the son of Wilhelm and Catherine Hansen Rahbusch, was born July 8. 1931 near Sutherland, Iowa. He attended Sutherland schools. He was in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was inducted into the United States Army at Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 10, 1952. He received his training at Fort Riley, Kansas, and reached the rank of corporal. His overseas duty was during the Korean conflict for almost 12 months. He was discharged from active duty on December 16, 1953 and was transferred to the Reserves. He received his honorable discharge in 1960.
He was united in marriage at Sutherland to Betty Martin on November 19, 1954. To this union were born six children. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethel Lutheran Church on April 4, 1965.
The couple farmed south of Hartley until 1968 when they moved to their present farm northeast of Sutherland,
He passed away suddenly at his home on December 16, 1974 at the age of 43. Preceding him in death was an infant son, Robert in 1967. Left to cherish his memory are his wife; one son, Peter; four daughters, Sharon, Barbara, Debra, and Amy, all at home; his parents of Sutherland; brothers, John, Tom, Herman, and Harold, all of Sutherland; and sisters, Mrs. Paul (Christine) Mathern of Gaza, Mrs. Don (Marianne) Lenhart of Sutherland, Mrs. Marga Wede, Mrs. Myrl (Betty) Reinfeld and Mrs. Lawrence (Ella) Alberts, all of Cherokee, and Mrs. Ruth Barrs of Ontario, Cal., as well as many other relatives and friends.
