Mrs Clara Barrett was born June 3, 1883 in Oskaloosa. The. family later lived in Des Moines for a time and then moved to Algona where they lived for a number of years. Later they moved to Spencer where she made her home until 1934 when she came to Sanborn. She lived in Sanborn 25 years, making her home with her. sister Edna.
She died January 23, 1959 of a heart attack at her home, being 75 years, 7 months, 20 days old. Preceding her in death was her husband who died in July, 1955; her parents William and Mary Thrash, and her brother, Harry Thrash.
She is survived by her sister, Edna Brundage, Sanborn, Iowa; two daughters Mrs Harold Anderson, Burt; and Mrs Opal Rider, Spirit Lake; a grandson, Larry Lee Rider, Spirit Lake.
Funeral services for Mrs Clara Barrett were held Monday afternoon at the Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. Robert Baxter of the Presbyterian church officiating. Mrs Bill Dummett and Mrs Harold Saupe sang "In the Garden," "Going Down the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Miss Gladys Barber at the piano. Pallbearers were Leo Anderson, Harold Saupe, Wm. Fairley, Leonard Blok, Roy Brown and Justin Foley. Interment in Roseland cemetery.
