Henry Peter Popp, son of Hans and Lena Dohrn Popp, was born March 2, 1872, in Germany. Mr. Popp came to America when he was 25 years of age.
About 2 years ago he was taken to Iowa City, where he entered the State Hospital and submitted to a major operation from which he never fully recovered. He passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mast, where he had been working and staying for the past 19 years, having attained the age of 70 years, 3 months and 29 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing five brothers, Wilhelm of Hartley, Hans of Colfax, Washington, Otis of Sutherland, and two brothers who are in Germany. He is also survived by five sisters, Annie Ekhart of Garfield, Washington, the other four are in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He leaves a host of friends in and about Hartley.
Funeral services were held from the Foley Funeral Home on Saturday, July 4th, at 2:00 p. m., conducted by the Rev. T. Ernest Hoon, pastor of the Hartley Methodist church. Interment was made in the Hartley cemetery.
