Katherine C. Ebel, the daughter of Peter Straub and Catherine nee Feeley, was born March 14, 1892 near Carlinville, Ill. and baptized on April 10, 1892. She came to Northwest Iowa as a young girl, and was confirmed at St. John church at Germantown, in 1905.

In December of 1915 she was married to John C. Ebel. To this union four daughters were born.

Katherine and John farmed northwest of Paullina from 1915 until 1944. It was at this time they retired and moved to Paullina. In December of 1965 John and Katherine had the happy occasion to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

In 1968 Katherine's life was saddened by the loss of her beloved husband, John. In August 1977 she entered the Wide View Rest Home here in Paullina, where she passed away on Wednesday of this week at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 27 days.

Katherine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved daughters Vera. Mrs George Hediger, of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. June Kluender of Paullina; Roberta, Mrs. George Quinn of Dixon, Calif.; and Lois, Mrs. Dale Jordan of Winton, Calif. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; three brothers, Ed Straub and Bruard Straub of Paullina and Junior Straub of Detroit, Mich.; and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Stoeckmann of Fulda, Minn.; Lucille, Mrs. Albert Ebel of Paullina; and Velma, Mrs. Albert Hess, of Detroit, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
