Grant Arnold was born September 4th, 1865 in Greene,County, Indiana and passed from this life at his home in Sanborn, Iowa, July 4th, 1927. In September he would have been 62 years of age. With his parents, Hugh and Rebecca Arnold he moved to Keokuk when one year of age, and to O'Brien County when fifteen years of age. He lived the rest or his life in this county, most of which time was spent in Sanborn. When he first moved to O'Brien county he purchased some government land near Archer. He lived upon this land for sixteen years.

On June, the 23rd, 1895 he was united in marriage to Maud White. There were five children born into this home; they are, Grant, Jr., Garth, Norman who died at the age of six weeks, Glenn, and Bernard. There is one brother yet living, R. H. Arnold of Medford, Oregon.

Mr. Arnold spent most of his life in O'Brien county, and most of his residence in the county has been in Sanborn. During his residence, here he has engaged in the insurance business for thirty one years. Mr. Arnold has always been quiet and unassuming, but he has labored long and well, and has long filled a useful place in his community. He will be missed from the community. He made many friends here.

He will be missed from his home, where he was a thoughtful and kind father. All his life, until very recently he enjoyed good health, but as all are taken so he too at last is taken from his accustomed place in the home and the community. We only voice our approval, as we say, "well done."

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Fremon Faul in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing friends. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of E.A. Mayne, J.M. Eason, Edw. Huibregtse, Rev. Faul, and impressive and touching solo was sung by Mrs. Florence Ronald. The pall bearers were G.C. Gallup, G.S. Melvin, John McDowell, A.D. Shaw, Chas. Allen, C.F. Watters.

The floral offerings were very beautiful and bore mute evidence of the esteem in which the deceased was held.

Relatives from out of town present at the funeral were: Mrs Andrew Hoyt, De Smit, S. Dak,. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. White and daughter Betty of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kilgour, Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Wm.
