Grant Dole Arnold, son of Grant and Maud Arnold, was born at Archer, Ia. ,on June 22d, 1896, and passed away at his home in Grinnell, Iowa on April 11th, 1938, being 41 years, 9 months and 20 days old. When seven months old the family moved to Sanborn, Ia. and there Grant attended the public school and grew to manhood.

On September 12th, 1914 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Short of Sanborn. After their marriage they continued to reside in Sanborn until 1927, in which year the family moved to Sioux City. To this union three children were born: Max G., Duane J., and Cleta Mae.

In 1929 they took up residence in Waterloo, Ia. where in 1930 his first wife died. On August 8th, 1934 Grant was united in marriage to Mildred A. Lake of Gaza, Ia. One child, Gary Lee, was born to this marriage. For most of his active life Mr. Arnold engaged in the restaurant business.

He has been in failing health for several months and some weeks ago it became evident that the end was drawing near. Realizing this he asked for and received Baptism in the Methodist Episcopal church, and made his peace with his Creator. When a youth he was connected with the Methodist church and Sunday School at Sanborn, being a member of the Brotherhood Class.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and four children, his mother, and three brothers, Garth, of Grinnell, Glenn, of Chillicothe, Ill., and Bernard, of Spencer, Ia. One brother, Norman Nelson, and his father preceded him in death. He was a kind and considerate husband and a loving father. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

My knowledge of that life is small,
The eye of faith is dim;
But 'tis enough that Christ knows all,
And I shall be with Him.
