Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the German Evangelical Church at Melvin for Mrs. August Guse, who died December 31 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jerry Graves near Melvin.

Mrs. Augusta Guse was born the 18th day of June 1848 at Tenowke, Germany and grew to womanhood in her native land where she was united in marriage to Christopher Guse, October 8, 1865. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom survive her. Six of these children are residing in or near Sanborn, and one at Worthington, Min., Her husband Christopher Guse preceded her in death 33 years ago.

Soon after their marriage, the young couple immigrated to America, coming directly to O'Brien County where they made their home continuously since 1883 until the time of their death, Mrs Guse having lived in the county 45 consecutive years and was 80 years, six months and three days of age at the time of her death.

Interment was made in Roseland cemetery in the family lot beside her husband. The services at Melvin were conducted by Rev. L.O. Walper of Sanborn. Besides a host of friends, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Jerry Graves, Mrs. Chas. Guse, and Mrs. Marie Kowalke and four sons, Al., Chris, Will and Fred Guse to mourn her passing; and 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
