Bertha (Randolph) Norland (1854-1896)

Last Saturday afternoon occured the funeral of Mrs. J. J. Norland, of this city, the services being conducted from the Congregational church by Rev. E. G Keith, of the M. E. church, in the absence of the pastor. A large number of friends and relatives of thedeceascd gathered to pay her their last respects. Rev. Keith preached an excellent sermon, after which the remains were laid away in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Norland was born in Illinois, December 14, l854, and at her death was 44 years and 7 months old.

In 1890 she came to O'Brien county and taught school, and in 1894 was married to J J. Norland. She was a good christian woman and a loving wife, and leaves a number of relatives and a large number of friends to mourn her death. The husband has the sympathy of the entire community in his sorrow, and the BELL joins them in hoping he will be comforted by He who knoweth our sorrow and careth for his afflicted ones.

Mrs. Jonas H. Norland died at Primghar last Friday, July 17, aged 41 years and 7 months. Mrs. Norland's maiden name was Randoph and she was well known as a successful teacher in Dale and other townships. The lady numbered many friends among her acquaintances. Mrs. Norland is well known in Paullina, having been a resident of the place for several years. The funeral was held at Primghar Saturday.
