Justine Albertina (Marquardt) Storm (1865-1953)

Justine Albertina Marquardt, fourth child of Mr. and Mrs. William Marquardt, was born May 2, 1865 at Tarowke, West Prussia, Germany. Here she was baptized and confirmed and received her schooling. On Saturday evening, September 19, 1953, she quietly fell asleep at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 17 days.

In April, 1883, she came to America with her brother, Gustav, coming to Sanborn and made her home with her uncle, Chris Guse.

On November 5, 1886 she was united in marriage to Herman Storm. They were the first couple married in the St. John Lutheran Congregation. To this union, four sons and six daughters were born.

After their marriage they moved to their farm and lived there until April 1917, when they retired to Sheldon and she continued to live there until December 1936, when she moved back to the farm, making her home with her son William, until last fall, when she moved to Sanborn and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. George Leemkuil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away April 15, 1918; also by one son, Theodore, and two daughters, Mrs. Calra (sic) Jenison and Mrs. Marie Baker.

She leaves to mourn, three sons: William, Herman and Albert, of Sanborn; four daughters: Mrs. Minnie Weber, Ivanhoe, Minn., Mrs. Ida Leemkuil, Sanborn, Mrs. Agnes Stout, Long Beach, Calif. And Mrs. Elsie Smith, Worthington, Minn. Also 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one brother, Gustav Marquardt.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the St. John’s Lutheran church with Rev. H.L. Daib in charge and interment (sic) was in Roseland cemetery here. Casketbearers were grandsons Earl, Vernon, Ronald, Leonard, and Donald Storm and Raymond Weber.
