1886-LESTER O. BIDWELL-1953

Lester O. Bidwell, the son of
Francis and Margaret [Pritchett] Bidwell,
was born on December 1, 1886, at
Sutherland, Iowa. He passed
away on April 22,1953, at the age
of 66 years, 4 months, and 21
days. At the time of his death
he was in the hospital at Sioux
Rapids, Iowa.

He attended the Sutherland
public school. With the exception
of 15 years at Dubuque, Iowa,
and 2 years in San Francisco,
Calif., he had been a lifetime
resident of this community.

On September 15, 1909, he was
united in marriage to Dora Johannsen
at Cherokee, Iowa. To
them were born two children, Oscar,
who passed away in 1913,
and Bernard, a Sutherland resident.

"Les" as he was known to his
many friends, had been engaged
in various occupations during
his life. Immediately following
their marriage; he and his wife
owned and-operated a restaurant
in Sutherland for 2 "years. After
this time he went into the livery
business, and then into auctioneering
of livestock sales. He
was also engaged in farming for
11 years. During this time he was
a member of the O'Brien County
Board of Supervisors for 6
years. In 1929 he went to Dubuque,
where he was employed
by the Barton Warner Company,
as a salesman of heavy duty
road machinery. For several
years he and his son owned and
operated the B & B Parlors In
Sutherland. Poor health forced
him to retire 3 years ago, and he
has been ill since that time.

Besides his wife, Dora, and his
son, Bernard, he is survived by
one grandson, Robert, and one
brother, Oscar, several nieces and
nephews, other relatives and
many friends.
