Raymond A. Hattermann, the son of Bruene and Emma Leverer [sic leverenz] Hattermann, was born Feb 23, 1901 [sic 1901] in Union Township, O'Brien County. Ia. He attended country schools

On Feb 11, 1925 he was united in marriage to Lillian Rohlfsen in Paullina. After their marriage the couple farmed in O'Brien County for many years until retiring in 1958 and moving into Paullina. The couple made their home in Paullina until Ray's passing on Sunday, Sept 23, 1983 at his residence, reaching the age of 81 years, 7 months and [] days.

He was baptized and later confirmed on April 1, 1917 in Zion Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member 6f the church. He was also active in the Paullina Senior Citizens Group

Raymond is survived by his wife Lillian of Paullina; four daughters, Faye and Glen Bjerke of Clark, S D . Lois Shafer of Golden, Colo., Betty and Orlynn Koehlmoos of Paullina, Mavis and Wesley Rehder of Calumet; one son, Alvin F. and Colleen Hattermann of Paullina; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, one brother, Bruene Hattermann of Paullina; and two half-brothers, Almond Briggie and Francis Briggie, both of Paullina.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one half-brother.

Services in memory of Raymond A. Hattermann were held at 2.00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 27,1983 at Zion Lutheran Church, Paullina, with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating Mr. Hattermann died Sept 25, 1983 at Paullina. Pallbearers were Kevin Shafer. Murray Rehder, Terry Hattermann, Paul Straub, Kent Pauling, Lance Shafer, Brett Shafer and Rick Rehder. "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" was sung by Alice Fintel, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung by Pam Ricke; and "Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus" was sung by the congregation, accompanied by Mrs. Verla Hibbing on the organ Mr. and Mrs Jeppe Larsen and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Swain were in charge of flowers Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, [sic West Prairie View] under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
