Clifford John Puhrmann was born March 29, 1922 in Palo Alto County, Aryshire, Iowa to Arthur and Jennie (nee) Long Puhrmann. He moved to the family farm north of Cleghorn at the age of four and lived there until he retired from farming and moved to Germantown, Iowa in August 1989.

Clifford received his education through the 9th grade in Cleghorn. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa on May 16, 1943. He was called to serve his country in the United States Army in December 1943. He was deployed overseas from October 1944 until honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in May 1946, serving in France and Germany.

He was united in marriage to LaVera Kruse on November 13, 1949. Besides farming, he drove school bus for six years and served on the Marcus Co-op Board for nine years. Clifford was a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1949, where he was an Lutheran Laymen’s League member/leader, served on Voters Assembly, Parent Teacher League, and attended Silver and Gold.

Clifford leaves his wife, LaVera of Germantown, Iowa, they were blessed with six children, Dale Puhrmann of Olathe, Kansas; Jean (Al) King of LeMars, Iowa; Sharon (Dan) Johnson of Marcus, Iowa; Shirley Korleski and special friend, Doug Dirks of Meriden, Iowa; Paul (Donna) Puhrmann of Cleghorn, Iowa and Joyce (Kurt) Rasmus of Holstein, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and step grandchildren, Aaron (Brittany) Puhrmann, Janelle Miranda, Ryan (Magness) Puhrmann, David (McKenzie) King, Anthony (Kim) King, Margaret King, Michael King, Chris (Jamie) Johnson, Kari (John) Reisz, Brent (Alicia) Johnson, Kyle (Erin) Johnson, Shelly (Jesse) Pick, Dustin (Missy) Puhrmann, Chad (Heather) Puhrmann, Nichol (James) Loraditch, Rusty (Tally) Rasmus, Cody (Angie) Rasmus, Kayla (Lance) Waller; 30 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Logan, Landon and Hayden Miranda; Stephanie (Jeff) King-Sinsley; Gunnar, Gage and Gabby Johnson; Weston, Kennedi, Kaylie, Wyatt and Wylie Reisz; Eva, Tenleigh and Kymber Johnson; Colin, Carson and Jacob Pick; Jillian and August Puhrmann; John and Sarah Puhrmann; Timothy Loraditch; Preston and Payton Rasmus; Lincoln, Paxton and Kenlin Rasmus; Jase and Bo Waller and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jennie Puhrmann, parents-in-law, John and Ida Kruse; two brothers and spouses, Harold (Vi) Puhrmann and Ray (Vera) Puhrmann, one sister and spouse, Alice (Melvin) Schmidt, two brothers-in-law and spouses, Lorenz (Lucille) Kruse and Leslie (Mary) Kruse, one sister-in-law and spouse, Leona (Elmer) Herzberg, two grandchildren, Kelly and David Burmakow and a grand son-in-law, Freddy Miranda.
