DICK HOFMAN 1917 — 1994

Dick Hofman, the son of Abraham and Kathrina (Zonnefeld) Hofman, was born near Sanborn, Iowa on December 19, 1917. He attended rural school and graduated from the Sanborn Christian School. He farmed with his dad until the time of his marriage.

He was united in marriage to Pearl DeVries of Sanborn, Iowa, on October 13, 1940, at the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church. Following their marriage, they farmed In the Melvin and Sanborn areas. He was a dairy farmer and also operated a corn shelling business. He remained active in farming until the time of his death. Dick died at Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital at Primghar. Iowa on November 28, 1994, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and nine days.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of Sanborn; six children: Kathleen and Hank Bousema of Sheldon, Gordon and Rachel Hofman of Milwaukee, Wise, Arlen and Mary Hofman of Sanborn, David and Vonnie Hofman of Primghar, Jason and Linda Hofman of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Nancy and John Gosselink of Pella, la.; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Maynard Hofman of Sanborn; four sisters: Elsie Elgersma, Agnes Uittenbogaard, and Tillie Bosma, all of Sanborn, and Arlene Krikke of Modesto, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and his step1 mother, Jessie. Dick was a member of the Cornerstone Orthodox Reformed Church of Sanborn, Iowa.

Funeral services were held December 2 at the Christian Reformed Church with Harry Zekveld officiating.

Casket bearers were Mark Bousema, Brian Hofman, Paul Hofman, Joel Bousema, Stephen Hofman, Seth Hofman, Nathan Bousema, Jamie Hofman, Jerry Hofman, Chris Hofman and Travis Gosselink. Congregational hymns were The Tender Love a Father Has," and "By the Sea of Crystal" Organist was Alvina Krikke. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home In charge.
