Edward Charles Meehlhause, the son of Jacob and Kathryn Fink Meehlhause. was born September 12, 1901, in O'Brien County near Hartley, Iowa. He passed away on August 9, 1968. at the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 27 days at the Community Memorial Hospital of Hartley where he had been a patient since Julv 15, 1968.

He attended public schools near his boyhood home and had been a resident of this area all his life.

He was united in marriage to Luverna Riessen on February 16, 1927. They lived on a farm near Hartley until retiring about 2 years ago when they moved into town.

Mr. Meehlhause enjoyed outdoor activities in his free time, especially fishing. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Frieda and Anna; 2 brothers: John and Will.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Luverna, 3 sisters, Mrs. Martha Fredericks, Mrs. Lena Frick and Rosie, Mrs. Earl Gonnerman all of Hartley; 2 brothers: Louis of Greene, Iowa, and Lawrence of San Bruno, California, nieces, nephews and many other relatives. He will be missed greatly by his relatives and many friends.

Services were held from Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley on Monday. August 12, 1968. with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Pallbearers were Eldon Paulsen. Irvin Dahnke, Earl Muilenburg, Ed Frick, Burdctte Hoeppner and Edward Jacobs. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
