Martin Baby Dies Suddenly, Funeral Rites Held Saturday

Jolene Jane Martin, 9-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Martin, succumbed suddenly at Sioux Valley hospital at Cherokee Wednesday afternoon, February 5, after being ill for only a short time. She became ill the night before and was taken to the hospital only a few hours before her death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church with the Rev. Warren A. Bintz in charge, directed1 ,by the Baumgarten Funeral Home. Miss Mary Jordan sang "The Lord's Prayer," and Mrs. Bernard Watterson and Mrs. Silas Steele sang "I Think When I Read The Sweet Story of Old." Mrs. Phillip Jordan was accompanist. Mr. and Mrs. John Engelke took care of the flowers. Interment was in Waterman cemetery.

Survivors are the parents, a brother James, a sister Judy, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ida Martin of Spencer, and other relatives.

Jolene Jane was born at Sioux Valley hospital, Cherokee, April 19, 1957. She was nine months and 16 days of age at the time of her death.
