MARIE VANDEMARK

Marie Minnie Vandemark, nee Steinbeck, the daughter of William and Anna Mekord Steinbeck, was born April 29, 1893 near Sanborn in O'Brien County, Iowa.

She was educated in schools near her childhood home and was united in marriage on December 6, 1916 to William Vandemark at Spencer, Iowa. He passed away on August 18, 1951, and she has since made her home in Hartley.

She was baptized in infancy and confirmed May 28, 1952 in the Trinity United Church of Christ where she was a member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and three sisters. She passed away on Dec. 31, 1971.

Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Mrs. Martie (Laura) Westphal and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Myrtle Steinbeck, both of Hartley; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Memorial services were held at the Trinity United Church of Christ on January 3, 1972, with Rev. Bernard W. Sayler officiating. The pallbearers were Garland Steinbeck, Wayne Steinbeck, Leland Steinbeck, Keith Steinbeck, Donald Steinbeck and Charles Zahren. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.
