LAST RITES HELD FOR AGNES WESTPHAL

Services for Agnes Westphal, 69, of Hartley were held Monday, Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Jerome Coyle officiated and burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. Mrs. Westphal died September 14, 1979 at the hospital in Primghar. Bearers were Gene Ahrenstorff, Norman Olson, Harry Wiese, Clare Byers, Marlin Vetter and Rients Terpstra. The St. Joseph choir provided the music and Mrs. R. D. McCarty was the organist.

Agnes Westphal was born January 21, 1910, east of Sutherland, the daughter of Gabriel and Phillippina Dekker Panther. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1927.

She married William Westphal on April 10, 1937 at Sutherland. They farmed in O'Brien County, moving to Hartley in 1975. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hartley and the Altar Society.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Lenz of Hartley and Mrs. Carol Richmond of Omaha, Neb.; one son, Roger Westphal of Hartley; five grandchildren; one sister, Rose Keegan of Aberdeen, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
