HENRY HESSE DEAD.

Henry H. Hesse was born October 16, 1852, in Emden, Ost,-Friesland, Germany. His father's name was H.G. Hesse, who died in Germany. His mother's maiden name was Dora Bonk, who came to this country with her son, Henry H.,- in the year 1863 and settled in Minonk, Illinois. The mother died seven years ago. Deceased received christian baptism and in his boyhood attended the public school.

He was united in the bonds of matrimony with Mary Mehlberg in the year 1892. This union was blessed with three children— Dora, Gerhard and Willie.

Mr. Hesse engaged in the mercantile business for a number of years. By industry and good management he acquired considerable property, thereby placing his family in comfortable circumstances. Nine years ago the family came to Hartley, O'Brien county, Iowa, where they have since resided.

The departed was a man of good business talents and ability. Those who were intimately acquainted with him speak in glowing terms of his kindness and friendship. He was a kind and effectionate husband, a loving and devoted father, having been greatly concerned in the proper training and education of his children. He was a good citizen and also an honored member fo Beacon Lodge #495 of Freemasons at Hartley, Iowa.

He was taken sick two weeks ago last Saturday, and typhoid-pneumonia soon developed. All that loving care and. medical skill could provide was resorted to, but in accordance with the mysterious providence of an all-wise-God his soul was called away from time to eternity, May 18th, 1908. Deceased was 55 years, 7 months and 2 days old.

He leaves a sorely—bereaved widow, two sons, one daughter and other relatives, and many friends to mourn his departure. May the. kind heavenly Father comfort the mourners with the hope of heaven.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at two p. m., conducted by Rev. J. Fischer and Rev. J. D. [?? haible] and the remains were laid rest in the Hartley cemetery to wait the resurrection. The Freemasons officiated at the grave.
