Irene Peterson

Irene Isabell Peterson, age 92, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Alta, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Hilltop Care Center, Spirit Lake. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9,2007, at United Methodist Church, Alta, with Pastor Terry W. Pollard officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery. Barker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Irene I. Peterson was born on July 12,1914 to Henry Amos and Anna (Klatt) Steffen on a farm north of Linn Grove. She graduated from Linn Grove High School with the class of 1932.

On Sept 19, 1934, Irene was united in marriage to Gordon A. Peterson. This union was blessed with two children, Ronald and Lorene. Irene was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Alta, church circle and card clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon in 1982; two brothers, Carroll and Harold; two brothers-in-law, Clyde Peterson and Andrew Olson; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Steffen, Lenpra Peterson, and Mildred Olson; and two nephews, Jim and Tom Steffen.

Irene is survived by her son, Ronald G. Peterson and his wife Linda of Indianapolis, Ind.; her daughter, Lorene Pitstick and her husband Larry of Rockwell City; 11 grandchildren; 19 great­ grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and many other relatives and friends.
