Mrs. Freda Moses passed away early Thursday morning at the McCroskey nursing home in Hartley at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 17 days.

Grandma Moses as she was known to her friends, was one of the oldest, both in years and residency of Sanborn. Mrs. Moses although well advanced in years, enjoyed good health and enjoyed visiting her neighbors and friends which she was able to do up until last fall when her strength and health began to fail. She was taken to the McCroskey nursing home May 5.

Freda Moelle, daughter of George and Margaret Moelle, was born in Germany on February 2, 1868. She was brought to the United States when she was four years old. She lived in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania for a short time and then moved to Ellenboro, Wisconsin where she grew up.
She married Leonard D. Moses on May 29, 1887 at Lancaster, Wisconsin. They lived there until about 1895, when they moved to Sanborn. They farmed a few years between this time and 1906, wnen they moved into the house in which she spent the rest of her life.

Mr. and Mrs. Moses were parents of five children, all living: Ed of Sanborn; Alonzo, Portland, Oregon; John, Hillsboro, Oregon; Harry at home, and their daughter, Margaret (Mrs Herman] Graesing, Spirit Lake.

Mrs. Moses was preceded in death by her husband in August, 1947, a half-brother, George, and two grand­children. '

She is survived by her children; a half-sister. Mrs. Emma Unger of Chicago, seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Moses united with St Andrew's Methodist Church on September 5, 1909. and took care of the church property for several years.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon. May 21 at 2 o'clock at the Sanborn Funeral Home with Rev. S. J. Baldwin conducting the services. Mrs. Harold J. Saupe sang two hymns "Abide With Me" and "Rock Of Ages", accompanied by Miss Leah Smock. Mrs. Vernon Bogaard and Mrs. Kenneth Snyder were in charge of the flowers. Pallbearers were: Otis De Voll, Leo Anderson, Louts Smith, Fred Soop, Harry Bogaard and Donald Irving. Burial In Roseland Cemetery.

Among relatives and friends attending from a distance were, John Moses, Hillsboro Ore., Al Moses, Portland Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Graesing, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graesing, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Daniel and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cook and sons all of Spirit Lake; Mr. and Mrs. M: E. Ling, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lamkin, Mrs. Earl Brewster, all of Sheldon; Mrs. Fred Lucas of George, Mr and Mrs.,E. J. Walker of Spirit Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Young of Paullina.
