SERVICES HELD FOR JACK KEENE

Last rites for Jack Keene were held Friday, November 26,1976 at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church in Hartley with Rev. Lester Hancock officiating. Soloist at the services was Mrs. Dennis Burns accompanied by Mrs. Paul Linder. Casket bearers were Robert Jensen, Robert Burns, Donald Treimer, Allen Pearson, Dennis Burns and K. C. Engel. Interment was in Pleasant View, Hartley.

Lloyd Bernard "Jack" Keene, the son of George and Rebecca Bernard Keene, was born at Primghar, Iowa on September 30, 1906. He went to school at Primghar and graduated from Primghar High School in 1924.

He was united in marriage at Alcester, South Dakota on June 30, 1934 to Eleanor Ison. They lived at Huron, South Dakota for nineteen years and Jack manufactured and sold automotive chemicals as one of the owners of the Midwest Specialty Company. He came to the Hartley, Iowa area in 1943 and farmed as well as continuing to work for Midwest until 1957.

He was united in marriage at Spencer, Iowa on December 30, 1961 to Helen Lyle. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hartley.

He passed away at the Community Hospital in Hartley, Iowa on November 23, 1976 at the age of 70.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and his first wife, Eleanor in 1960.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Trix Keene of Hartley; six grandchildren; one brother, Roy of Dallas, Texas and one sister, Mrs. Jens (Bessie) Dahl of Clinton, Iowa, as well as other relatives and his many friends.
