MRS CHARLES KEENE
Mrs. Charles Keene, born Dovis Mae Real, the daughter of Allen and Doi Hoppis Real, was born May 5, 1936 at Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She entered into eternal life on October 10, 1963, near Hartley, Iowa, at the age of 27 years, five months, and five days.
She attended the Sallisaw Elementary Schools, Sallisaw High School, and Conners Junior College at Warner, Oklahoma.
On August 23, 1958, she was united in marriage to Charles B. Keene at Sallisaw. To them were born two children, Martha Sue and David Charles. The young family resided on a farm in the Moneta-Hartley area. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Moneta.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles; daughter, Martha Sue, age 4; son, David Charles, age 1 1/2; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Real of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; two sisters, Jean Real of Sallisaw, and Ellen (Mrs. David Hooper), also of Sallisaw; four brothers, Starr of Muldrow, Oklahoma; James, Dale, and Roger, all of Sallisaw, as well as other relatives and a great many friends.
Services were held Sunday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Methodist Church in Hartley with Rev. Frank Davies officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Jensen, Donald Nielsen, Atlen Pearson, Jerry Schumann, Kenneth Kroger, and Richard Fonduroy. Burial was made in Pleasant View Cemetery with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge.

Hartley woman killed in farm accidentMrs. Charles Keene, 27, of rural Hartley was killed instantly last Thursday, October 10, when a grain elevator being moved on the farm 3 miles east and 2 south of Hartley collapsed and fell on her. Her husband and Larry Schuck, 21, were also both injured when the elevator being moved a short distance fell. Mr. Keene was not hospitalized, but Mr. Schuck is still recuperating in the Hartley Community Hospital with a back injury. According to the doctor's report, his condition is good and he is expected to be released within a week, with no permanent injuries. Services were held in Hartley Sunday for Mrs. Keene.
