ALLEN R. KOEPP 1916 — 1996

Allen Rudolph Koepp, the son of Rudolph and Matilda (Rassmussen) Koepp, was born at Bemidji, Minn, on March 29,1916. He lived his youth and received his education at Bemidji. While in high school he was involved In football and basketball. Following graduation, he attended Bemidji University where he was a member of the only undefeated football team in the history of that university.

He was united in marriage to Pearle Smith on December 1,1936 at Bemldjl. Minn. They resided in Bemldjl from 1936 to 1944. They then moved to Sheldon, Iowa where they owned and operated a grocery store, the Standard station, and a cabin camp until 1962. From 1962 to 1964 they managed and operated the Sheldon Golf Course and Country Club. They moved to Sanborn and operated the Pike Supper Club from 1971 to 1979.

Al entered Prairie View Home in Sanborn on February 15, 1995, and he died there on December 11, 1996, at the age of 80 years, eight months and 12 days.

Al is survived by his wife, Pearle. of Sanborn; his children: Janice and Dennis Warm of Council Bluffs, Ia., and Judy and Joe Sweeney of Sutherland, Ia.; six grandchildren and seven great­grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and a grandson.

Al had been a member of the United Methodist Church atSheldon, Iowa and also was a devoted member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Al's family was a very important part of his life and he will always be remembered for his love of golf.

Funeral services were held December 16 at the United Methodist Church at Sheldon with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Ursin officiating. Casket bearers were Dan Sweeney, Steven Sweeney, Doug Sweeney, Chris Sweeney, Harold Drescher and Gary Flowers. Honorary bearers were Phil Vander Ploeg, Keith Campbell, Ray Lennox and "Shorty" Washer. Barb Burns was organist Rev. Ken Carlson was soloist singing, "He Touched Me" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
