Pioneer Resident Passes Away

Mrs Anna Protextor, 90, passed away Sunday morning at the rural home of her son Emmett Protextor from complications of advanced age-She had been bedfast for some time. Funeral services were held from the Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev Robert Baxter officiating. He was assisted in the services by a quartet composed of Mrs Alvin Getting, Mrs Douglas Rubim Leslie Getting and Sidney Vander Woude, who sang "In the Garden" and ""Face to Face," accompanied by Mrs Daryle Getting at the piano. Five grandsons and one nephew acted as pallbearers: Kenneth Dingle, Donald Dingle, Wayne Mc Nutt, Rudolph Larsen, Jack Protextor and Alvin Getting and bore the body to its final resting place in Roseland Cemetery.

Anna Wilhemine Getting was born August 18, 1867 at Freeport, Ill., and passed away February 23 at the age of 90 years at the home of her son Emmett. She was the second child of a family of nine children of Carl and Caroline Getting. She was 9 years old when she moved from Grundy County to O'Brien County with her parents.

On January 2, 1887, she was united in marriage to John Adam Protextor at Little Rock. To this union one daughter and two sons were born. They made their home there until the fall of 1890, moving them to their home north of Sanborn. In the spring of 1904, Mr. and Mrs. Protextor moved into Sanborn where with the exception of 5 years which they spent back on their farm and her last six months which she spent at her son's home on account of failing health

Mrs. Protextor leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Clara (Mrs. Henry) Dingel of Ocheyedan, one son Emmett of Sanborn, two brothers, John Getting of Sanborn and Geo. Getting of Eugene, Ore., two sisters, Mrs. Tracy Jansen of Dunkerton and Mrs. Hattie Culley of Coos Bay, Ore. Eleven grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Her husband, John Protextor, a son Earl, two brothers, Fred and Charles, two sisters, Alvina and Sophia preceded her in death.

Mrs. Protextor united with the First Presbyterian church by profession of her faith. The love she had for her church was shown in her faithful attendance through her many years of membership. She was of a retiring nature, loving her home, garden and flowers. She liked to crochet and made many people happy with gifts of her lovely hand work.
