Cleo C. Rieck

A funeral service for Cleo C Rieck was held at 10 30 a.m. Friday, September 25. 2009, at St John's Lutheran Church in May City, Iowa. Rev Paul Johnson officiated Pallbearers were Brian Rieck, Dustm Rieck, Brent Rieck, Jeff Long, Justin Long. Chris Gathman, Dan Gathman and Sheldon Rieck Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Iowa Hartley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Cleo Catherine (Crowl) Rieck, the daughter of Roy and Emma (Kruse) Crowl, was born on October 25, 1919 at Peterson, Iowa. She attended school in Moneta and Everly and graduated in 1938. Cleo went on to attend the St Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City. Iowa

On March 26, 1944 she was united in marriage to Alvin Rieck at the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hartley. Iowa To this union seven children were born: Connie. James. Tom. Roger. Bev. Patty and Debbie The couple were engaged in farming together for 55 years in the Ocheyedan and May City area. Together they raised livestock, milked cows, and kept up a family-sized garden

Cleo entered the Community Memorial Health Center in January of 2004 and passed away there on September 21, 2009 at the age of 89.

Cleo was a member of St John's Lutheran Church of May City She was an avid gardener and baker, loved music and dancing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grand­children.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alvin, seven children- Connie Long of Spirit Lake, Iowa, James (Kathy) Rieck of Primghar, Iowa, Tom (Kathy) Rieck of Hartley. Roger Rieck and Kim Krueger of Truman. Minnesota. Bev (Don) Reiman of Geneva, Nebraska, Patty (Dean) Houser of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, and Debbie (Tracy) Gathman of Monroe, Iowa, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Betty (Clark) Cluckering of Spencer. Iowa, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Crowl, and sister-in-law. Arleen (Crowl) Tichy.
