John Ginger Dies Friday

Funeral services were conducted here Monday afternoon for John Ginger, who died Friday, Oct 6 at the age of 89.

Services were held at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W V Bell officiating. Interment took place in Prairie View cemetery The pallbearers were Harry Crouse. Clarence Smith. Sr, Orlo Smith, James Simm, Albert Meyer and Carney Thompson.

John Ginger, the son of Jacob Ginger and his wife, Barbara, nee Albrecht, [sic] was born Dec. 15 1860 near Princeton, Bureau county, Illinois In 1874, the family moved to a farm near Gladbrook, Iowa. John, with his brother, Jacob, came to O'Brien county in the summer of 1882 driving covered wagons from Tama county. They broke prairie near the present site of Germantown and returned to Tama county in the fall. In 1885, they again returned to O'Brien county where John farmed northeast of Paullina until 1902.

On August 11, 1903, he was united in marriage to Christine Neumeier and immediately there­after they made their home here in Paullina where he has remained through the years with the exception of the last four which were spent at the Tanner nursing home in Primghar. This was made necessary because of the infirmities of his age.

He died at the Tanner nursing home at the age of 89 years. 9 months and 21 days.

Three children were born in their home; Raymond of Paullina and Lorine and Elmer, both of whom died in infancy.

Other survivors are his one grandson, Bradley, one brother. William of Buffalo Gap, S D and one sister, Mrs. Gus Marten of Paullina.

Mr Gineer became a member of the Methodist church in early life. He transferred his membership to the Paullina church and during that time has been a faithful member of the Methodist church, serving it in various capacities during the years. In July 1904 he was elected a director of the First National Bank of Paullina and served in that capacity until 1946.

Those who attended the services from a distance were William Ginger, Buffalo, Gap, S. D. Mr and Mrs. Tom Wood, Myron Melendy, Waterloo Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mussig, Lydia Flammc and Fred Kaiaer of Gladbrook and Frank Hinz and Spiel Cleghorn of Primghar.
