Funeral services for Edna Simm were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 1994, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Donald E. Freeman officiating. The casket bearers were Rand Powers, Tom Straub, Blaine Koch, Richard Lundell, Rod Carlson, Dick Simm and Matt Simm. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.

OBITUARY

Edna Simm, the daughter of Gus and Jennie Anderson Carlson, was born March 8, 1904. She had three older sisters and two younger broth­ers. She attended schools in Marcus and in 1915, she moved with her parents to a farm south of Paullina. Edna graduated from Paullina High School in 1921, attended Cedar Falls Extension College in Sheldon and then taught several years in rural schools.

In 1926, she was united in marriage to Hans Linder. After their marriage, the couple resided in Paullina where Edna was employed as a clerk in Livingston and Skogmo Stores.

Hans preceded her in death in 1958.

In 1959, she was united in marriage to Richard Simm. In 1963 the couple built a new home in Paullina.

Richard preceded her in death in 1973.

She continued to make her home in the family home until entering the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina.

She passed away at the home on Thursday, May 19, 1994, reaching the age of 90 years, 2 months and 11 days.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, and was active in circle and Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of P.E.O. Her hobbies were oil painting, knitting, crocheting, reading and playing bridge.

Edna is survived by one son, Jim and his wife, Clara of Bremerton, Washington; one grandson, Rick and his wife, Cheryl; a granddaughter, Valerie Wolf; also five great grand­children; three step children: Wally and Betty Simm of Paullina, Frances and Leonard Koch of Spencer and Philip and Muriel Simm of Paullina; also many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, three sisters and two brothers.
