MBS. BERTHA WAGNER

Mrs. Bertha Marie Wagner [Mrs. Henry Wagner], daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyners, was born October 12, 1878 near Boyden. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church near Boyden on November 16, 1878, wae confirmed in the same church on April 10, 1892, and was joined in marriage to Henry Wagner here on December 12, 1900.

To this union were born two sons and one daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Wagner lived on a farm near Boyden for six years, then resided on a farm near Sheldon for three years, and near Sanborn for twenty-one years.

In 1931 Mr. and Mrs. Wagner moved to their home in Sheldon and at that time became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Up until the time of her death Mrs. Wagner took active part in the work of her church.

On May 23, 1961 Mr. Wagner was called out of this life but Mrs. Wagner continued living alone. She was in fairly good health until about a month ago. On Monday, June 11 she was brought to the Community Memorial Hospital for examination, but was released the next day. After spending a few days with her daughter she was returned to the hospital on Friday, June 15, and departed this life at about 6:00 pm, having attained the age of 83 years. 8 months and 3 days.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son; and by three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by a son Lawrence of Sanborn, a daughter Viola [Mrs Francis Moore] of Sanborn, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two sisters; Mrs Fred Winters of Sheldon, and Mrs John Kersten of Pasco, Wash.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wagner were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon June 18, 1962 at 2:00 pan., with Rev. Arnold H. Jahr, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Phil Vander Ploeg sang "Heaven .Is My Home" accompanied by Mrs Win. Kerberg, organist Pallbearers were Waldo Winter, Edgar Winter, Wilson Winter, Ar­thur Rosenboom, William Rosenboom, Elmer Kersten. Committal services at Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn. Iowa.
