Lawrence Wagner, son of Henry E. and Bertha M. Wagner, was born in Boyden, Iowa on May 13, 1902. At the age of eight years he moved with his parents to a farm two miles north of Sanborn, Iowa, where he lived his youth, attended school and grew to young manhood. He lived on the same farm for 65 years. He was baptized on June 3, 1902, at St. John Lutheran Church of Boyden, Iowa, and confirmed on April 7, 1917 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Esther Bobzien of Hartley, Iowa, on March, 1931, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley, Iowa. Their entire married life was lived on the home farm two miles north of Sanborn, Iowa.

He passed away suddenly in his pickup, enroute to Sanborn, just over a mile south of his home on Tuesday, December 2,1975, at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 19 days.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, of Sanborn, Iowa; one daughter, LuAnn Pingel of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, LeDoyle Pingel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, LeDen Pingel of Cleghorn, Iowa and La Nee and Lorale Pingel of Sioux City, Iowa; and one sister, Viola, Mrs. Francis Moore of Sanborn, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and one brother.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church of Sanborn on Friday, Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. L. C. Gebhardt officiating. Casket bearers were Gerald Carnahan, Glenn Damman, Earl Storm, Glenn Strubbe, Vernon Storm and Arnold Steuck. Mrs. Arnold Steuck was organist. The congregation sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I'm But a Stranger Here". Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
