GLEN BOBZIEN

Glen Warren Bobzien, son of John Bobzien and his wife, Emma, nee Kruse, was born March 12, 1900, in Grant Township, O'Brien county, Ia. He was made a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church by Holy Baptism on July 1st of the same year, the late Rev. C Muoffer administering the sacrament. In his childhood and early youth his parents had him instructed in the teachings of his church and at the age of 15 he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The rite of Confirmation was administered to him by Rev. E. Hoffmann at Hartley on March 28, 1915.

He was united in marriage to Miss Lutrella Pippert of Hartley on March 16, 1921. To this union one child was born, a son, Verlin. This marriage was later on dissolved.

On June 16, 1935, he was wedded to Miss Gertrude Lewis, of Sibley, la. At the last they made their home on his father's place northwest of Hartley and prior to this he farmed various places adjoining this one.

He first took sick about a month ago and from that time on until his demise he was confined to his bed most of the time. His condition was not considered extremely serious, however, until Thursday, June 17. On the following day he was removed to a hospital in Sioux City There he was operated on on Tuesday, June 22. From that time on until last Saturday his condition was at all times very critical and without rallying he finally suc­cumbed patiently and peacefully on that day, June 26, at 3 37 in the afternoon. He thus brought his age to the untimely figure of 37 years, 3 months and 14 days.

There remain to survive his early departure his grief-stricken wife, his parents, now residing in Hartley, his son Verlin, of Hartley, his brother Clarence of Grant township, O'Brien county, and two sisters, Mrs. Martin Decker of the vicinity of Hartley and Mrs. Lawrence Wagner of Sanborn.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon of last week at St. Paul's Lutheran church with Rev. C. G. Meyer, of Sanborn, officiating. Interment was made at Pleasant View Cemetery.
