Edith Mott Is Buried at Mapleside Following Services

This community was saddened by the death of Edith Mott. Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon. Edith M. Gamble Mott was born Jan. 9, 1904, at Winona, Ohio, a daughter of Charles and Rachel (Whinnery) Gamble. She attended grade and high schools of the Society of Friends, Earlham College at Richmond, Ind., Kent State College in Ohio, and graduated from Salem Business College at Salem, Ohio. She taught grade school 4 years. In 1924 she attended a Friends World Conference in England.

On April 23, 1932, she was married to Milford B. Mott of Earlham. They lived in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Iowa before moving to Sioux Falls, S. Dak., in 1958. She passed away at the Sioux Valley hospital, Sioux Falls, on March 1, 1962, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held at the George Boom Funeral Chapel in Sioux Falls at 9:30 a.m. March 3, and at 2-00 p.m. at the Mapleside Friends meeting house. Interment was in the Friends cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilmer Newlin, Paul New-lin, Owen Newlin, Donald Mott, Arthur Newlin and James Mott.

Survivors include her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Livezey of Defiance, Ohio, and Mrs. Emry] Holloway of Hanoverton, Ohio, a brother, Albert Gamble of Winona, Ohio, and many other relatives and friends. Those from out of town that attended the services were Wilaner and Alice Newlin, Paul and Evelyn Newlin, Owen and Doris Newlin, and Joan and Wilmer Tjossem, all of Des Moines; Roy and Edith Newlin and Edgar Houle of Earlham; Rev. and and Mrs. James Patton and family of Winner, S. Dak.; Miss Ann Johnson, Rev. and Mrs. John DeVries, Mrs. M. R. Cloud, and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Guthrie, all of Sioux Falls; Lewis and Emma Mott and Karen ol Indianola, and Albert Clements of Lennox.
