He entered into the U.S. Army in 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota and served overseas beginning January of 1944. He was on active duty in the China/Burma/India Theater and received three Bronze Battle Stars. He was discharged at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on January 17, 1946 after having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He also served on the Osceola County Fair Board for 25 years and had served as president. Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Kenneth went to his heavenly home on February 2, 1995, passing away at St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, June of Hartley; two devoted sons: Greg and his wife, Joan of Spirit Lake, and Jerry and his wife, Pamela of Scottsdale, Arizona; one sister, Elise and her husband, Derald Schroeder of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends, which are a blessing from God.
