Services in memory of Bertha Jipp were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 1992. at the United Methodist Church in Hartley. Rev. Mel Amnion officiated. Casket bearers were Willie Morfitt, Roger Groff, Ron Sterk, Steve Byers and Pat Maloney. Committal service was at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bertha Emma Jipp, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Seydell, was born December 6, 1895, at North English, Iowa. She was educated in the rural schools near her childhood home. She graduated from high school and taught in rural schools.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Jipp on August 29, 1940. at Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home at Hartley, and Bertha was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and had taught Sunday School. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. For many years, she and Clarence were the janitors at the old church and for a short time at the new one.
She passed away at Hartley on September 4, 1992, at the age of 96. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers and one sister. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clarence; four nieces: other relatives and friends.
