CLARA HELEN ANNA RIXMAN

Clara Helen Anna Rixman, daughter of Rev. H. Rixman and Caroline Dueker Rixman, was born August 2, 1901, at Alden Iowa, and was the fifth of a family of six children. She was baptized in the Christian faith and during her childhood received the regular secular and religious instruction. After her confirmation at Calumet, Iowa, where her father was pastor at that time she attended high school at Hartley and graduated in 1920.

In Fairbault, Minn., at the Evangelical Deaconess Home and Training school, Miss Rixma took a regular three year course in nurses training. Having completed her course she followed her profession at various points in Minnesota, Iowa and Dakota. Three years ago she left for San Fransisco, Cal., where she was constantly employed.

This summer the departed had planned to come home. All preparations had been made to be here for the first of August. Sudden illness necessitated her removal to the hospital. A double operation was performed but failed to bring the desired relief and after but a few days of suffering she departed this life on Tuesday morning, July 30, at 9:30 a. m. Her ailment was pronounced to be a complication of peritonitis and gangrene. She attained the age of 27 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Industrious, and of a happy disposition she will be missed by the members of her family and will be held in grateful remembrance by many whom she served.

Those who survive her are her parents, Rev. and Mrs. H. Rixman, of Hartley; five brothers and sister, Mrs. Lydia Lefferdink, Duluth, Minn.; Paul Rixman, Lake Park, Iowa; Mrs. Amelia Lindeman, Ackley, Iowa; Arnold Rixman, Fargo, N. D.; Milton Rixman, Hartley; two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and other numerous relatives.

The body of the departed was brought to Hartley for burial by the mother who had rushed to her daughter's side only to be too late.

Burial services were held Monday afternoon from the home and at Trinity Evangelical church. Rev. Albrecht officiated and was assisted by a quartet of voices with Miss Lela Adolph at the piano. Interment followed at Pleasant View cemetery.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs Paul Rixman and family of Lakefield, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. C. S, Lefferdink and son of Duluth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Rixman of Fargo, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lindaman and family of Ackley, Iowa; Milton Rixman; Mrs. A. Roth of St. Louis, Mo.; Miss Kunz of Rockford, Ill.; and Mr. Yahn of Fairmont, Minn.
