EDWARD W. MILLER

Edward W. Miller, the son of Barney and Catherine Damm Miller, was born at Springbrook, in Benton Co., Ia., on July 10, 1880. He passed away at the Hartley Community Hospital on Jan. 8, 1969, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 28 days. He had lived in this community 81 years, having come here as a child with his parents. He was retired, but had spent 45 years as a painter and decorator here. He was baptized in the Catholic faith as an infant, but had embraced the protestant reli­gion most of his life. He attended the public schools and also the State University of Iowa.

His marriage to Edna Green took place on Dec. 2, 1918, at Spencer, Ia. To them were born two daughters, Margaret and Naomi.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters: Kate, Marie, and Elizabeth, and four brothers: Frank, John, Chris, and William.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Edna; his two daughters: Mrs. Margaret E. De Boer of Hartley and Mrs. Francis Reiffenberger of Austin, Minn.; four grandchildren and 1 great­grandchild; one sister: Mrs. Ann Wilkison of Fulda, Minn.; as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and his many friends.

Services were held from the Baumgarten Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, with Rev. K. L. Scott officiating. Pall­bearers were Amos Lloyd, Martin Rachuy, Clarence Jipp, Freeman Gonnerman, Harold Bojens, and Henry Wieditz. Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Neebel and P. R. Burns. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.
